My art is inspired by the quiet interruptions of daily life. I am referring to the moments when I stop what I’m doing to stare at a shadow, or to analyze the temperature and chromatic vibrancy in something grey or brown at first glance, or to appreciate the patina and character of an object. I strive to seize these moments of poetry in life and to recreate them.
Whether through paint, clay, wool or other mediums, I focus on creating space for reflection and quiet dialogue within ourselves to see things as they are.
My artistic expression is influenced by my background as a Professional Engineer in civil and transportation infrastructure. I approach both with an intense curiosity and inquisitive mind. My art practice is also an exploration of cultural identity as a second generation Chinese-Canadian.
